David V. Derosa

Originally from Shelton and then Bridgeport, Connecticut, Attorney DeRosa has been a life-long resident of Connecticut.  He graduated from Fairfield College Preparatory School, Boston College, and Quinnipiac University School of Law.  He is admitted to practice in Connecticut and New York, District Court of Connecticut, The United States Court of Appeal for the Second Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.  While in law school, he worked under the direction of Attorney Susan Hankins in preparing his first appellate brief as a student in the case of State v. Bronson, 55 Conn. App. 717 (1999) reversed 258 Conn. 42 (2001).  Since his admission to the Connecticut bar, he has filed at least two appellate briefs a year.

He has practiced law in the State of Connecticut since 1999.  He began his practice handling criminal appeals and advocating for person’s at risk of immediate incarceration for alleged failing to pay child support.  Since then he has expanded his practice into a wide range of matters.  He focuses on appeals having reviewed the record, researched the law, prepared the brief, and argued over 30 appeals before the Connecticut Supreme and Appellate Courts in areas as diverse as criminal, housing, civil, and family.  He has also argued appellate cases before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.  He has appeared as an appellate attorney before Workers Compensation Review Board, and the Superior Court in its appellate capacity.

Attorney DeRosa has expertise and has drafted briefs in criminal matters, commercial litigation, evictions, divorces, child support, child custody, zoning matters, probate proceedings, and juvenile matters.

Attorney DeRosa was recognized in Connecticut Magazine as a Superlawyer and rising star for his work as an appellate lawyer in 2011.  Before that he received from Attorney Proloy Das, Chair of the Young Lawyer Section of the Connecticut Bar Association for the year 2009 – 2010, an Achievement Award for his Outstanding Service to the Bar.  He was recognized for his legal research and writing when his student research project entitled “Intestate Succession and the Laughing Heir: Who Do We Want to Get the Last Laugh ?” was published in Volume 12 number 2 of the 1997 edition of the Quinnipiac Probate  Law Journal.

He is committed to public service and the improvement of the practice of law in Connecticut.   He is the National Delegate for the Connecticut Italian American Bar Association and chair of the committee .  He is a member of the Connecticut Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.  He is also a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, where he is active in the small practice and appellate sections.   He is on the committee for the Restoration of the Shrine of St. Anne in Waterbury, Connecticut.

He was a former member of the Young Lawyer Section of the Connecticut Bar Association where he was the co chair for criminal and appellate educational programming.  He assisted in organizing and attending a group admission program at the United States Supreme Court organized by Connecticut Bar Association Young Lawyers Section in 2010.  He is the Former Treasurer and board member of the Litchfield Jazz Festival and remains active with that group as a sponsor.

He has a love of music, especially jazz, and has an interest in cycling and triathlons.
